Rank Up in Underground for Underground Caches
The Underground entrance in the Terminal beneath the Base of Operations. Select an operation from the Underground activity interface.
Before you go
- The Underground expansion, included in the Definitive Edition.
- Level 30 access to endgame Underground operations.
- A loadout suited to the selected difficulty and any chosen directives.
- Inventory space to review cache rewards.
Farming steps
- Enter the Underground activity interface in the Terminal and review the available operation choices.
- Select an operation and choose a difficulty and any directives you are prepared to handle.
- Follow the operation’s displayed objectives through its phases, clearing enemies that block progress.
- Complete the operation and collect its available rewards, then check your Underground rank progress.
- Launch another suitable operation and repeat until you gain a rank and receive its Underground Cache.
- Open the cache from your inventory and compare both items with your current gear.
- Keep useful pieces, store items for alternate builds, and dismantle unwanted gear before the next run.
- Pick difficulty and directives you can complete consistently; faster, reliable progress is more useful than an operation that repeatedly stalls.
- Track rank progress between runs so you can decide whether another operation is likely to reach the next cache.
Repeat, collect and use
Underground operations are repeatable. Continue completing operations to gain rank; each rank-up awards one cache with two High-End or Gear Set items, but the contents are not targeted to a particular piece.
Common mistakes
- Assuming every operation immediately grants a cache; the cache is tied to rank-ups, so check your progress.
- Adding directives that make the run unreliable; choose options your build and group can manage.
- Keeping every cache item; compare the rewards with your build and clear unwanted gear to preserve inventory space.
When to stop or switch
Stop when you have reached your rank or gear goal for the session, or switch to an easier operation if the selected difficulty or directives prevent steady progress.
