Loose Aluminum in the Hills is a useful early pickup run. The pieces are collected by hand and do not naturally replenish, so this method is best for an initial crafting reserve. The same material later feeds Super Alloy production, making it worthwhile to collect what you can carry before leaving the area.
Before you go Carry oxygen and water for the journey. Bring inventory space for Aluminum and other useful finds. Have the multitool available for picking up ground pieces. Head toward the open terrain near the Iridium cave and look for the shiny columns and darker ground that identify the Hills. Search the ground around the columns for loose metallic Aluminum pieces. Pick up each piece you find by hand with the multitool. Check nearby ground before leaving; do not assume the material is concentrated in a single pile. Return to base when your inventory is nearly full or your supplies run low. Store Aluminum for construction or take it to an Advanced Craft Station later for Super Alloy. Farming tips Collect a practical reserve on your first visit, since the loose ground pieces are finite and do not respawn on their own. Aluminum is used in Super Alloy and Super Alloy Rod crafting, so avoid spending your entire supply on low-priority builds. Repeat, collect and use This is a limited collection route. A return trip may find pieces you overlooked, but the collected ground supply does not naturally reset.
Common mistakes Searching for a guaranteed single cluster: scan the open area and inspect the ground around the rock columns. Planning on loose pieces as an ongoing source: transition to an Ore Extractor placed inside the Hills’ dark zone when available. Spending Aluminum without tracking future needs: reserve some for Super Alloy recipes. When to stop or switch Leave once your inventory is full or you have enough for the next planned recipes; build an Aluminum extractor for ongoing supply when you can.
