Where to farm
The Prime ice cave north of the escape pod landing spot, near 404:142:996.
On Prime, the ice cave north of the landing area opens as Heat terraforming melts its entrance. Collect the three Osmium chunks needed for the documented T2 Ore Extractor, then place the machine on the cave’s ore vein. This method is specific to Prime; it does not cover other planets or moons.
Collect three Osmium chunks by hand for the extractor recipe.
Unlock T2 Ore Extractor at 364.5 mPa pressure and gather 3 Osmium, 1 Super Alloy Rod, and 2 Iridium Rods.
Provide power for the extractor.
Travel north from the landing area to the cave near 404:142:996.
If the entrance is frozen, continue Heat terraforming and return after it opens.
Enter and collect three Osmium chunks by hand.
Reach the T2 Ore Extractor unlock and craft it from the listed materials.
Place the extractor on the cave’s ore vein and connect adequate power.
Return to the machine’s output, collect Osmium, and store it for crafting.
Farming tips
Confirm the vein and displayed extraction eligibility when placing the machine; do not rely on coordinates alone for placement.
Budget the three hand-collected chunks for the extractor before spending them on other recipes.
Repeat, collect and use
After setup, the extractor provides an ongoing supply while powered. Collect its output as needed; the initial hand-gathered chunks are a limited setup resource.
Common mistakes
Attempting this with T1: the documented Prime Osmium setup uses T2.
Spending setup Osmium before building: reserve the three chunks needed for the extractor.
Placing the machine off the vein: position it on the ore vein and verify its output.
When to stop or switch
Keep the powered extractor while Osmium remains useful; switch to another resource site if power or output storage is limiting production.
