Farm first-clear Epic gear from Wild Lands bosses

Use the first defeat of each Wild Lands boss as a progression checkpoint and chance to improve your equipment.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Wild Lands Chapter 4 boss encounters, reached after following the concluding Chapter 3 quest.

Update 7 improves the chance of an Epic item on a boss’s first defeat. This is a practical gear opportunity as you enter the Wild Lands, but it is not a guaranteed drop. The chapter adds three bosses; use the encounters you reach through normal exploration and current quest markers rather than assuming a fixed route or a particular item reward. Keep drops that solve a real equipment need, and sell or mark the rest as junk. This guide applies to the PC Global Early Access Update 7 Wild Lands build; later updates may change encounter access or loot behavior.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Complete Chapter 3 and follow its concluding quest into the Wild Lands.
  • Be equipped to survive the boss encounter you choose.
  • Leave inventory space to inspect and collect drops.
  1. Follow the main quest into the Wild Lands and advance until a boss encounter is available.
  2. Before engaging, compare your equipped defenses and damage options with the boss fight you are about to attempt.
  3. Defeat the boss and inspect the ground drops and inventory for Epic items.
  4. Compare each item with the equipment in that slot; keep upgrades or pieces that support your build.
  5. Mark unwanted gear as junk or sell it when convenient, keeping inventory space open.
  6. Continue exploring toward the other available boss encounters and use the same first-defeat check.

Farming tips

  • Treat the improved first-clear chance as an opportunity, not a promise of an Epic drop.
  • Record which slots still need upgrades so you can judge a drop quickly.

Repeat, collect and use

Each boss has a first defeat; that first-clear opportunity is limited. You can revisit bosses afterward, but repeated kills are a separate farm and do not recreate a first defeat.

Common mistakes

  • Expecting a guaranteed Epic: inspect whatever drops and continue if none appears.
  • Keeping every Epic: compare stats and build fit before using valuable inventory space.
  • Rushing into a boss underprepared: check defenses and skills before committing to the encounter.

When to stop or switch

Stop prioritizing first clears once each reachable boss is defeated, or when the drops no longer improve your build. Switch to repeat encounters only if their current loot is still useful.
