Where to farm
Ruins of Mortium, at active Rift Incursion markers tracked with the Eye of Mortium.
Use the Eye of Mortium to track Rift Incursions in Ruins of Mortium. Each event has two satellite red crystal sites to clear before its final Lesser Blood Soul appears. Tier 1 is the route for regular Stygian Shards; Tier 2 rewards Greater Stygian Shards instead. Take regular shards to the southern Vampire Merchant to buy a Rare Ancestral Weapon Shard, then use that shard at your castle’s Ancestral Forge.
Reach Ruins of Mortium and have the Eye of Mortium available to track incursions.
Prepare for Tier 1 combat; its recommended level is 57.
Plan to spend regular shards at the southern Vampire Merchant, where Rare Ancestral Weapon Shards cost 750 regular shards. The purchased shard is used at an Ancestral Forge.
Interact with the Eye of Mortium and check the available incursion markers.
Travel to a Tier 1 marker in Ruins of Mortium and find the central summoning circle.
Follow the trail to the first red crystal site and defeat its enemy waves until the site is cleared.
Return to the circle, follow the other trail, and clear the second crystal site’s waves.
Go back to the circle and defeat the Lesser Blood Soul that appears to complete the event.
Collect the shard rewards and check your inventory; shard amounts can vary with server settings.
When you have enough regular shards, visit the southern Vampire Merchant, buy the Rare Ancestral Weapon Shard you want, and take it to your castle’s Ancestral Forge.
Farming tips
Choose Tier 1 when you need regular Stygian Shards; Tier 2 is for Greater Stygian Shards and has a recommended level of 80.
Clear both satellite sites before returning to the circle so the final Blood Soul stage can begin.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat the Tier 1 route whenever the Eye of Mortium shows an available incursion. Event timing and shard drops can vary with server settings, so use the Eye and in-game markers rather than relying on a fixed schedule or yield.
Common mistakes
Farming Tier 2 for regular shards: its reward is Greater Stygian Shards, so select Tier 1 for the merchant purchase described here.
Leaving a satellite site before its waves are defeated: finish clearing the site before returning to the central circle.
Treating the Rare Ancestral Weapon Shard as a finished weapon: bring the purchased shard to the Ancestral Forge to use it.
When to stop or switch
Stop when you have enough regular shards for the Rare Ancestral Weapon Shard you plan to buy; switch to Tier 2 if Greater Stygian Shards are your goal.
