Where to farm
Buried Silver Veins on Mountain slopes, located with the Wishbone.
Silver gathering is a Mountain prospecting expedition: detect the buried vein, dig until it is exposed, then mine and extract the ore. Cold, threats, and metal transport all make preparation part of the route. Under normal settings, standard wooden portals block silver ore and silver bars, so smelting does not make the load portal-compatible. Plan a physical haul by foot, cart, or ship unless Portal – Stone or permissive world settings are available; the departure portal must support the items. Decide which silver recipes you need before committing to a haul, and bring the right pickaxe for the vein.
Bring frost protection, food, a weapon, and an Iron Pickaxe or better; silver requires at least an Iron Pickaxe.
Plan a safe staging point and physical ore transport to a Smelter.
Choose a Mountain area and establish a safe foothold near the slope you plan to search.
Equip the Wishbone and sweep the ground, paying attention as its signal strengthens.
Dig where the signal is strongest until the Silver Vein is exposed.
Mine the vein with an Iron Pickaxe or better while watching for Mountain threats and managing stamina.
Mark the vein on your map and divide the ore into loads you can move safely.
Transport ore by foot, cart, or ship to a Smelter in early progression. Standard wooden portals block silver ore under normal settings.
Smelt the ore into silver bars and use them for the recipes on your plan. Standard wooden portals block bars too; use a supported exception or haul them physically.
Farming tips
Keep a protected staging point where you can recover and store gear before searching farther.
Leave the Wishbone equipped during the search; it helps reveal buried silver.
Do not count on smelting to enable portal travel; Portal – Stone and world settings provide exceptions to standard wooden portal rules.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat on other Mountain slopes when you need more silver. Each vein is finite, but the Wishbone can reveal additional deposits.
Common mistakes
Searching without the Wishbone; defeat Bonemass and equip the reward before prospecting.
Entering without frost protection; prepare for Mountain cold before crossing into the biome.
Trying to mine silver with less than an Iron Pickaxe, or trying to portal ore or bars through a standard wooden portal under normal settings; bring the required tool and plan a physical early-game haul.
When to stop or switch
Stop when you have enough silver bars for planned equipment and tools; search again when another recipe makes more necessary.
