Before you go

Farming steps
- Stop at a depot and clear nearby threats before searching exposed outpost areas.
- Search accessible containers and note any seeds among the mixed loot.
- Collect tokens from sources available during the depot stop if you plan to use the machine.
- Use tokens at the slot machine and check each result before spending more.
- Store any regular or strange seeds separately from other loot.
- Return to the train and plant a seed only when the bed, water, and growth plan are ready.
- Use compost on the crop if available to protect the seed at harvest.
- Treat slot-machine results as random; do not spend tokens expecting a specific seed type.
- If a seed is urgently needed, small void fish are the primary collection route described for seeds.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat at later depots while tokens and stops are available; machine rolls and container contents are random, so this is a limited, chance-based fallback rather than guaranteed replenishment.
Common mistakes
- Spending every token on a seed expectation; rewards can be other resources.
- Leaving seeds mixed in loose depot loot; store them safely on the train.
- Planting without water or a seed-return plan; prepare the bed and compost when possible.
When to stop or switch
Stop rolling when you have enough seed stock for the beds you can maintain or when the remaining tokens are more valuable elsewhere.
