WHERE & HOW TO FARM Where to farm A reachable sector you are considering for a Mining Operation and that the galaxy map marks with the needed ore.
Scouting the intended area before a Mining Operation can improve its area score. Pair the scouting pass with a Mining Subsystem when available, then compare the operation’s displayed score and danger before assigning the miner. This is a route-selection aid, not a promise of a fixed delivery.
Before you go Scout ship or a ship capable of completing an advance scouting mission. Mining ship with a mining turret and captain for the later operation. Target sector reachable by both ships. Mining Subsystem for the mining vessel when available. Find a sector displaying the target material on the galaxy map and confirm it is reachable. Check faction control and threat so the scout and miner are not sent blindly into a dangerous area. Send a suitable ship on an advance scouting mission in the candidate sector. After scouting, equip or retain a Mining Subsystem on the mining ship if one is available. Open the Mining Operation controls and select the same sector as the target area. Review the area score and cargo efficiency alongside the miner’s defenses and cargo capacity. Start the operation only if the combined yield signal, travel, and risk suit the ship. Retrieve and unload the miner, then compare the actual delivery before scouting another candidate. Farming tips Scouting and a Mining Subsystem can both contribute to operation area information; neither removes the need for a mining turret. A safe faction area may score lower than unclaimed space, so choose based on fleet strength as well as the display. Repeat, collect and use Repeatable before each new candidate area. The scouting mission is a setup step; its benefit does not guarantee a particular ore amount.
Common mistakes Scouting a sector without the target ore: confirm materials on the map first. Using a Mining Subsystem in place of a scout or mining turret: these serve different functions. Treating a better score as a guaranteed result: use the actual operation delivery to judge the route. When to stop or switch Stop scouting when you have a suitable area with acceptable score and risk; switch sectors if the miner’s safety or cargo logistics fail the check.
