WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Skittering Cavern, a spider-filled cave in the Exiled Lands; its cave entry and boss are identified on the official community wiki.

Skittering Cavern is a named Exiled Lands cave full of spiders and is specifically identified as a source of Gossamer for Silk. Bring a sickle: Gossamer can be gathered from spider bodies, and spider egg sacs are especially productive targets according to the community wiki. The cavern also contains the spider boss The End of All Hope, so treat the route as a combat expedition rather than a harmless plant harvest. Once home, convert Gossamer into Silk using the recipe shown at your Tanner’s Table or handcrafting interface. Silk is a separate material used in textile and armor production; keep Gossamer and finished Silk distinct in storage so you can see whether another conversion batch is needed.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • A sickle for harvesting Gossamer from spiders or their egg sacs.
  • Combat gear, healing supplies, and inventory room for Gossamer and other cave drops.
  • Access to the Gossamer-to-Silk recipe by handcrafting or a Tanner’s Table for processing after the trip.
  1. Locate the named Skittering Cavern and prepare before entering; its spiders and resident boss make it more dangerous than an open-world harvest route.
  2. Equip the sickle before approaching spiders so the bodies can be harvested for Gossamer after combat.
  3. Clear a manageable section at a time and check for egg sacs as well as spider corpses; the sickle can harvest Gossamer from both.
  4. Do not push toward The End of All Hope unless you have chosen to take on the boss; ordinary Gossamer collection does not require defeating it.
  5. Collect the Gossamer you can carry, then leave by the route you entered rather than continuing deeper after supplies are low.
  6. At base, inspect the current Silk recipe and convert the amount of Gossamer needed for your intended craft.
  7. Use or store Silk for the planned textile or armor production and keep a reserve of unprocessed Gossamer if another recipe needs it.
  8. Repeat the cave trip when your Silk inventory falls below the next planned production batch.

Farming tips

  • A sickle is the key tool for this loop; using a combat weapon for the final harvest forfeits the intended Gossamer route.
  • The cave is also cited as a source of Ichor and Chitin, but collect those only if carry capacity and your own recipe goals allow it.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat while you need Silk and can safely clear spiders. The output depends on what you harvest and the combat route, so do not plan around a fixed count per visit.

Common mistakes

  • Entering without a sickle and discovering after combat that the corpses cannot be harvested the intended way.
  • Treating the boss room as mandatory; the cave’s ordinary spiders and egg sacs are the Gossamer targets.
  • Converting every Gossamer immediately and leaving none for other recipes or later batches.

When to stop or switch

Leave when your inventory has enough Gossamer for the next Silk batch or when health, healing supplies, or carry space is running low.
