WHERE & HOW TO FARM Where to farm A Furnace at your base, staffed by a converted Smelter Thrall.
A Smelter is a profession Thrall for a production station. The practical chain is to locate and capture an NPC with that role, convert the captive at a Wheel of Pain, then assign the converted worker to a Furnace. This guide avoids promising exact output rates or fuel savings, which depend on worker and current station details; inspect the Furnace interface after placement.
Before you go Truncheon and bindings suitable for capturing and transporting an NPC. Wheel of Pain and the food currently required to convert a captive. Furnace at base and ore or other material for the intended recipe. Search a hostile camp for an NPC identified as a Smelter in the current game. Use a truncheon to knock the NPC unconscious, then bind it. Transport the captive to your base and place it in the Wheel of Pain with required food. Wait for conversion to finish and retrieve the new Thrall. Open the Furnace and assign the Smelter to its worker slot. Load the ore and fuel required by the live recipe, then start refining. Collect the finished material and check the station interface for its current worker effect. Farming tips Prepare bindings and a clear route home before attempting the capture. Profession and tier affect station benefits; read the Furnace interface after assigning the worker. Repeat, collect and use The staffing step is a one-time setup per Furnace, while ore refining is repeatable. Recruit another Smelter if you need to staff another station.
Common mistakes Capturing without bindings or a transport plan; bring both before engaging the target. Placing a Smelter at the wrong station; assign the worker to a Furnace and verify the slot. Assuming a fixed recipe or production bonus; check the current Furnace UI for costs and effects. When to stop or switch Stop recruiting once the Furnace you use has a suitable Smelter; continue refining only while the output is useful and inputs are available.
