Greater Rifts provide Legendary Gems and repeated upgrade chances that strengthen endgame builds.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Greater Rifts entered at the Nephalem Obelisk in Adventure Mode using Greater Rift Keystones.
Greater Rifts are the main activity for obtaining and leveling Legendary Gems. Complete a tier within its timer to unlock Urshi’s upgrade choices, then spend the attempts on gems that support your build. Rift Guardians can drop Legendary Gems you have not yet collected. Select a tier you can reliably finish; a clear that is too difficult may yield no upgrade opportunity.
Greater Rift Keystone from a Nephalem Rift Guardian.
A tier your character can finish within the timer for gem upgrade attempts.
Use the Obelisk to open a Greater Rift at a tier appropriate to your current build.
Clear enemies and advance the progress bar while managing dangerous packs.
Defeat the Rift Guardian before the timer expires.
Collect any Legendary Gem drop if it is not already in your collection.
Speak with Urshi after a timed clear and choose a Legendary Gem to upgrade.
Repeat the highest tier you can finish reliably, adjusting the gem target as the build changes.
Return to regular Nephalem Rifts when you need more keystones.
Farming tips
Successful clears provide the upgrade interaction; choose a tier that leaves time for repeat attempts rather than repeatedly failing.
Greater Rift rewards are concentrated at the Guardian, so finish the encounter before leaving.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat with one Greater Rift Keystone per run. Gem upgrades are limited by the successful run’s available attempts and chance, so a rank increase is not guaranteed every time.
Common mistakes
Pushing a tier far beyond your clear ability: failed runs do not provide the normal gem upgrade screen. Lower the tier.
Spending upgrades on an unused gem: choose gems that fit the active build or a planned alternate.
Forgetting to speak with Urshi: visit her after a timed clear to use the offered upgrade chances.
When to stop or switch
Stop when the target gem reaches the rank needed for your build or your success rate drops; switch to a lower tier for reliable upgrades or a regular Rift for more keys.
