WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Rift Guardians at the end of Nephalem Rifts opened from the town Obelisk in Adventure Mode.

Nephalem Rift Guardians are the repeatable source of Greater Rift Keystones. Run a regular rift from the town Obelisk, defeat its Guardian, and collect the keystone if it drops. The drop chance scales with difficulty, while the Rift itself also supplies ordinary loot and Death’s Breath. Spend keystones at the Obelisk to enter Greater Rifts, within the tier access allowed by your clear progress.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Adventure Mode unlocked.
  • A build that can clear Nephalem Rifts at a suitable difficulty.
  • An endgame goal for which you need Greater Rift access.
  1. Open the Nephalem Obelisk and start a regular Nephalem Rift.
  2. Fight through the rift and prioritize progress until the Guardian appears.
  3. Defeat the Rift Guardian and collect its drops, checking for Greater Rift Keystones.
  4. Repeat regular rifts if you need more keys; choose a difficulty your build clears efficiently.
  5. Return to the Obelisk and select a Greater Rift when you are ready to spend a key.
  6. Choose a tier permitted by your previous Greater Rift progress and your build’s strength.

Farming tips

  • Higher Nephalem Rift difficulty improves the chance of a keystone drop; balance that against clear speed.
  • Stay in the regular rift after the Guardian if Death’s Breath or other ordinary loot is also part of your goal.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat Nephalem Rift Guardian kills as often as needed; keystone drops are chance-based, and each key is spent when opening a Greater Rift.

Common mistakes

  • Entering Greater Rifts while short on keys: replenish them in regular Nephalem Rifts.
  • Choosing a difficulty that makes regular rifts slow: lower it until Guardians and elites fall at a steady pace.
  • Expecting a key from a Greater Rift Guardian: regular Nephalem Rift Guardians are the supported keystone source.

When to stop or switch

Stop collecting when you have enough keys for the next gem leveling or tier push session; switch to a different activity if your build or Greater Rift access is the limiting factor.
