WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Fruit Trees

Open ground at the settlement edge or farm perimeter, away from crop rows and busy paths.

Before you go

Farming steps

  1. Choose a permanent orchard location that will not block fields or paths.
  2. Leave clear surrounding tiles for each tree and maintain an access path for harvesting.
  3. Use the Shovel to prepare a planting hole.
  4. Place the plantable fruit or seed in the hole and cover it with soil.
  5. Allow the tree to grow without occupying its surrounding space.
  6. Inspect the tree when fruit is visible and collect the harvest.
  7. Store fruit for recipes or test whether a planned processor accepts that item before scaling up.

Repeat, collect and use

Trees are a multi-season investment rather than a crop replanted after every harvest. Collect fruit when available and revisit the trees for later harvests.

Common mistakes

  • Crowding young trees can prevent proper growth; leave open tiles around each planting.
  • Planting in the middle of a future field creates a persistent obstruction; choose the orchard site before expanding crops.
  • Assuming every fruit works in a processor can waste planning effort; check accepted inputs before planting at scale.

When to stop or switch

Stop adding trees when open space or access paths become constrained. Expand only after the first plantings fit the layout and provide useful harvests.
