Promethium is a power resource, and drilling a confirmed underground deposit can provide a larger collection opportunity than searching only for isolated surface rocks.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Planet map resource list → Promethium availability; then follow a detector marker to a confirmed underground deposit.

Confirm that Promethium appears in the planet resource list, use a detector to locate a deposit marker, then mine it with a handheld drill in Ground Drill mode. The Survival Tool’s Rock Drill mode is for surface rocks, not buried deposits.

How to farm

Before you go

Planet whose resource list includes Promethium
Resource detector
Handheld drill suitable for ground drilling
Biofuel for drill ammunition

Open the planet map and check the resource list for Promethium.
Equip or carry a detector and explore until a Promethium deposit marker appears.
Approach the marker and verify its displayed resource type and remaining information.
Load Biofuel into the handheld drill and select Ground Drill mode.
Begin digging at the deposit, keeping the tunnel angled toward an exit rather than making a straight vertical shaft.
Collect the mined Promethium and check the deposit information as you work.
Return to the surface and store the ore for the power-related crafting need you are addressing.

Farming tips

Use Ground Drill mode for the underground deposit; Rock Drill mode is intended for surface rocks.
Keep an angled route back to the surface so you can exit the excavation.

Repeat, collect and use

A deposit has limited remaining material. Continue mining while the deposit still has Promethium and you need it; use the detector again to locate another deposit if the current one is depleted.

Common mistakes

Searching for deposits without checking the planet resource list: confirm Promethium is available first.
Using the Survival Tool Rock Drill on underground terrain: equip the handheld drill and select Ground Drill mode.
Digging a vertical shaft that is difficult to climb out of: maintain an angled route toward the surface.

When to stop or switch

Stop when the deposit is depleted or you have enough Promethium for your current power plan; leave by the prepared route and switch to another confirmed deposit if more is needed.
