Flax provides a renewable source of plant material for crafting and equipment progression. Growing it at home reduces dependence on repeated wild gathering once the Farmer and seedling recipe are unlocked.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
The Farmer's Seedbed and cultivated Farm Soil at your base.
Unlock the Flax Seedling recipe by collecting wild flax, then use the Farmer's Seedbed to turn the required ingredients into seedlings. Plant those seedlings in compatible soil and keep part of the harvest available for replanting or recipe inputs. The specific recipe panel determines the current material cost.
Flax location from Maki’s February 2024 map reference. Match the player marker and nearby cave/spire landmarks; the map predates later world expansions, so verify the deposit in your current world.Map legend

How to farm
Before you go
Rescue the Farmer and place her Seedbed.
Harvest wild flax to reveal its seedling recipe.
Compatible planting soil and room for a crop plot.
Find and harvest wild flax in a region where it grows, collecting enough to unlock and supply the recipe.
Return to the Farmer's Seedbed and inspect the Flax Seedling recipe for its current ingredients.
Craft a starter batch while preserving any flax or other inputs needed for your next batch.
Prepare Farm Soil at your base and plant the seedlings in the plot.
Allow the crop to grow, then harvest the mature flax from the plot.
Sort the output: reserve seedling ingredients or replanting stock, and route the remaining flax to crafting.
Farming tips
Keep crop stock separate from flax you intend to process into fiber materials.
Use the recipe panel as the authority for ingredients rather than assuming the recipe cost is unchanged.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat the cycle by reserving enough harvested material to craft or plant another batch. This is an ongoing crop loop once the recipe and plot are available.
Common mistakes
Planting before unlocking the recipe: harvest wild flax first and check the Seedbed.
Using all flax for processing: retain a separate reserve for continued planting.
Choosing incompatible ground: use Farm Soil or another soil type accepted by the seedling.
When to stop or switch
Stop expanding the plot when your regular crafting demand is met; use spare plot space for a different crop.
