WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Vendors in Diamond City, Goodneighbor, or settlement shops you can access.

Weapons and armor from exploration can fund purchases when you sell pieces that do not improve your build. First protect unique gear and items with useful legendary effects. Then trade ordinary duplicates or weaker equipment to vendors and use the caps for materials, ammunition, or other priorities. This is a loot conversion method: its value depends on what you collect and what the vendor can pay.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Weapons or armor you are willing to part with.
  • Access to a vendor with caps available.
  • Inventory space to carry the selected loot.
  1. After an expedition, compare collected weapons and armor with what you currently use.
  2. Set aside unique pieces, useful legendary items, and gear you may want to modify.
  3. Keep items with needed components if crafting value exceeds their sale value.
  4. Select low-value duplicates or obsolete equipment for sale.
  5. Visit an accessible vendor and trade the surplus for caps.
  6. Use the proceeds for a specific supply or upgrade rather than spending them without a plan.
  7. Store or scrap unsold gear if another vendor or future crafting use makes more sense.

Farming tips

  • Carry only the loot you expect to trade; excess weight can restrict the next outing.
  • Compare the utility of an item's components with the offered caps before choosing to sell or scrap.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat after loot-heavy trips as long as vendors have caps. The loop depends on collected equipment and vendor funds, so it is not a fixed-income farm.

Common mistakes

  • Selling a valuable legendary item by accident loses a potentially useful reward; check effects before trading.
  • Hauling every weapon can consume carry capacity; prioritize items with better value or use.
  • Expecting unlimited vendor caps can leave part of the batch unsold; sell across visits or vendors.

When to stop or switch

Stop when the vendor's available caps are spent or your remaining gear is more useful for crafting, storage, or equipment than for sale.
