Plant Oil is useful in polymer synthesis, and Canola offers an aboard-growing supply that can be processed in a Distiller.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Canola Multidoigt seeds at Greenhouse Tower; grow the crop aboard the airship.
Find Canola Multidoigt seeds at a Greenhouse Tower, raise the small crop in a Garden Plot, and process harvested plants into Plant Oil. A 1.0 Distiller includes Plant Oil as a default recipe, though crop returns and seed recovery vary.
Fertilizer and dirty or clean water suitable for the plot.
Distiller for Plant Oil processing.
Bring a Canola seed back from a Greenhouse Tower and place it in a small Garden Plot.
Add the fertilizer and water required by the plot’s in-game crop display.
Keep the growing plant watered; crops may need multiple watering visits.
Harvest the mature plant with a knife, collecting the Canola output.
Remember that harvest returns the plant but only has a small chance to return a seed.
Load Canola into the Distiller and select Plant Oil if the recipe is available.
Collect the oil and use it in polymer synthesis or another recipe that requests it.
Farming tips
Blue barrels at Greenhouse Towers can provide existing Plant Oil when collected with an empty liquid container.
Check the crop’s displayed needs before planting, since fertilizer requirements can vary by crop.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat while you have seeds and plot inputs. Seed return is only a small chance, so replenish seeds at Greenhouse Towers rather than assuming each harvest sustains the loop.
Common mistakes
Using a large plot for this small crop: use a small Garden Plot.
Leaving the crop dry: check it and water as needed during growth.
Assuming a harvested plant always returns a seed: seed recovery is a small chance.
When to stop or switch
Stop distilling when your planned Plant Oil recipe stock is met, or pause planting until you have another seed and the plot inputs to grow it.
