Where to farm
Walls, ceilings, and floors in Underdust locations.
Small Energy Crystal clusters form on surfaces in Underdust locations and can be collected by hand. Search methodically across the interior surfaces, then use the crystals in the advanced recipes or energy products you are pursuing.
Enter an Underdust location with enough supplies for a careful search.
Scan the walls for small crystal clusters as you move through the site.
Look upward along ceilings and overhead surfaces for additional formations.
Inspect floors and corners before leaving each room or passage.
Collect visible clusters by hand; a cutter is not required by the documented method.
Store the crystals aboard and allocate them to equipment, fuel, or battery recipes.
Farming tips
The main source is Underdust locations; above-ground caches are described as rare and associated with Colossal Creature points of interest.
Search all three surface types before concluding a room is depleted.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat the search in other Underdust locations when you need more. The evidence describes where clusters form, not a guaranteed respawn schedule for cleared sites.
Common mistakes
Looking only at walls: clusters may also be on ceilings and floors.
Bringing a cutter unnecessarily for collection: the documented clusters are gathered by hand.
Planning around common above-ground crystals: those caches are reported as rare.
When to stop or switch
Stop when the current expedition has enough crystals for your planned advanced craft or when life-support supplies call for returning.
