Where to farm
At the research station and its live research interface; the unlocked equipment is used later at underground ore-vein drill points.
Treat this as a research unlock objective rather than another scan-and-mark prospecting trip. Check the active research interface for its current material requests, deliver those inputs, and confirm the unlock before preparing an ore-vein mine.

Access to the research interface and its current Underground Mining requirements
The requested materials, gathered from the production or mining lines that supply them
An accessible storage point for keeping research inputs separate until delivery
Open the research interface and locate Underground Mining or its prerequisite in the current progression list.
Read the displayed requirements; do not assume quantities or prerequisites from an earlier build.
Set aside the requested materials in a labeled buffer so factory expansion does not consume them.
Deliver the displayed inputs to the research station using the available interface.
Select the relevant research and allow its progress to complete according to the station’s current behavior.
Check the research interface again and verify that Underground Mining is unlocked.
Use the unlock when you are ready to prepare a vein site; the miner will still need a valid drill point, high-voltage power, and an ore transport route.
Farming tips
Keep the research buffer separate from ordinary production stock so the requested batch remains available.
Verify the unlock in the live interface before gathering equipment for a vein mine.
Repeat, collect and use
The research unlock is a one-time progression goal per save, not a repeatable material farm. Repeat the research-station routine for later technologies using each one’s displayed requirements; use the unlocked equipment for ongoing vein extraction.

Assuming the research requirements or quantities are fixed: follow the current interface for this build.
Spending reserved research inputs elsewhere: hold them in a labeled buffer until delivery.
Treating the unlock as an operating mine: prepare a valid underground drill point and power and transport connections separately.
When to stop or switch
Stop when the interface confirms Underground Mining is unlocked. Switch to vein-site preparation when you have a suitable point and can support its power and output logistics.
