Where to farm
Nightshade seed mounds in Erebus on the Underworld route; dig with the Silver Spade and plant at the Crossroads.
Nightshade begins at a seed mound in Erebus and becomes usable as a plant only after garden cultivation. Unlock the Silver Spade, then take an Underworld run to Erebus and inspect its chambers for a mound. The tool is active automatically once unlocked, so you do not have to equip it before a night. Mound appearances are variable; check rooms as you move through them instead of planning around one presumed spawn. Back at the Crossroads, plant the seed and wait for the garden to mark Nightshade ready. Use the harvest for a recipe that currently calls for it.
Unlock the Silver Spade in the Crossroads gathering tools.
Unlock Erebus and the Crossroads garden.
Have an open garden plot and check which recipe needs Nightshade.
Choose the Underworld route and enter Erebus.
Scan each chamber for a seed mound as you traverse it.
When you find a mound, interact to dig using the Silver Spade.
Collect the Nightshade seed and continue checking later Erebus rooms.
Return to the Crossroads and plant the seed in an open plot.
Check the garden until the crop is marked ready, then harvest Nightshade.
Apply the plant to the Cauldron recipe or other displayed requirement.
Farming tips
Check the garden after runs so a completed crop is not left waiting to be collected.
The seed and harvested Nightshade are different items in the process; reserve the crop for a known use.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat the Erebus search when more Nightshade is required. Mounds are variable, and each seed must pass through the garden before yielding the plant. Harvest when ready, use Nightshade on the selected recipe, and check what remains missing.
Common mistakes
Expecting a mound in a specific room: scan each chamber and allow for variable appearances.
Assuming the Spade must be carried in a loadout: unlocking gathering tools activates them automatically.
Expecting Nightshade directly from the mound: plant the seed, wait for readiness, then harvest.
When to stop or switch
Stop digging once your harvested Nightshade covers the next requirement; target another seed if the recipe list calls for something else.
