Boss keys unlock specific encounters, and the Adventure Journal provides the route for the particular key rather than a generic boss rotation.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
The source activity listed for the exact key in the Adventure Journal, followed by the corresponding boss entrance.
Treat each key as its own target. Search the Adventure Journal for the exact key name and follow its listed source, then use the completed key at the matching encounter. Some key progress may involve collecting parts and crafting a full key; preserve those parts until you confirm the recipe and your intended use.
Identify the exact boss key and intended encounter.
Unlock the activity and difficulty named by the Journal entry.
Have any recipe, crafting station, or key parts required for completion.
Keep the target key and its components visible in your filter.
Search the Adventure Journal for the exact boss key name.
Record its listed source, required difficulty, and any component or crafting conditions.
Travel to that source and set the filter for the key and relevant parts.
Complete the named activity or defeat the listed boss, collecting key components as they appear.
Use the crafting interface if the current key system requires combining parts; confirm the live recipe before spending them.
Check the completed key in inventory and travel to the matching boss entrance.
Use the key for the intended encounter or reserve it if you are building a set of entries.
Farming tips
A complete Key of Terror can have a different sale or use value from its component drops; check current demand and your progression need before selling parts.
Keep keys visible even when farming other drops, since they are easy to overlook in a full inventory.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeatable only to the extent that the listed source can provide more keys or components. A key drop or component is not guaranteed each run, and some key supplies may be limited.
Common mistakes
Farming an unrelated boss for a key: use the exact Journal source for that key.
Selling components before checking the recipe or intended entry: confirm the live crafting requirements first.
Using a key on the wrong encounter: match the key name to its listed boss before consuming it.
When to stop or switch
Stop when you have the key or entry supply required for the intended boss attempts. Switch to the boss encounter or another listed key source when your target changes.
