Target the boss tied to a wanted material

Focusing the boss tied to a needed material avoids rotating encounters that cannot advance the current progression goal.

PC / Global, Season 10 Patch 7.0.11 (2026)
WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

The boss encounter identified for the target material in the Adventure Journal or current Ether Tree branch information.

Name the material first, then use its in-game source information to choose the matching boss. Season 10’s Ether Tree includes branches for encounters such as Reaper, Prime Evil, and Sung Lee, but their outputs and access differ. Farm only the boss that can provide the material you intend to use.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Identify the exact material and what you will use it for.
  • Unlock the boss encounter and its listed access requirements.
  • Have a build that can handle the boss at the chosen difficulty.
  • Keep the material and relevant boss drops visible in the loot filter.
  1. Search the Adventure Journal or current encounter information for the material name.
  2. Record the boss and any key, fragment, difficulty, or branch requirement shown.
  3. If an Ether Tree node affects the encounter, inspect its effect and plan a connected path before investing.
  4. Gather the required access item or currency through its named source.
  5. Enter the matching boss encounter and defeat the boss with a safe, repeatable approach.
  6. Collect and verify the material in your inventory; reserve it for the stated craft or progression step.
  7. Compare a consistent sample of clears and repeat only if you still need the material.

Farming tips

  • Do not infer a boss’s drops from its name or branch; use the item’s source entry.
  • Keep the access cost in your comparison, especially when an encounter consumes fragments or keys.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeatable only where the encounter’s current access system allows it. Materials may be random drops, and entry resources such as fragments can be limited by your supply.

Common mistakes

  • Rotating bosses without a material target: choose the encounter from the item’s source information.
  • Spending Ether Points on a disconnected node: account for the entire path to the effect.
  • Ignoring entry costs: include keys or fragments in the decision to continue farming.

When to stop or switch

Stop when the material quantity needed for the planned use is secured or entry costs exceed the value of further attempts. Switch to the source for your next progression bottleneck.
