The Adventure Journal turns a named gear goal into a route that can actually drop it, avoiding unrelated farming.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
In-game Adventure Journal, at the target item’s source entry.
Choose one missing item and use its Journal entry to identify the source before spending time on a farm. The entry may point to an Act, zone, boss, or difficulty. Match your route and loot filter to that source, then judge progress by useful upgrades rather than total drops.
Have access to the listed region, activity, and difficulty.
Use a loot filter that can show the target and a usable replacement.
Open the Adventure Journal and search for the exact item name.
Read the item entry and note its named Act, zone, boss, or difficulty requirement.
Travel to the listed source; if the entry is unclear, confirm the current source in-game before committing to a long session.
Set the loot filter to show the target and replacements that could improve the same slot.
Run a short, consistent sample and record clear time, deaths, travel, and useful target drops.
If the route is unsafe, lower difficulty or select a safer listed source that still matches the item.
Keep the item if it advances your build; store, sell, or dismantle other drops according to their uses.
Farming tips
For zone sources, prioritize a build that clears packs quickly; for boss sources, favor sustained damage and safe uptime.
Retest after a major patch, gear change, or loot-filter change because a better source or safer route may alter the comparison.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeatable for any gear target with a Journal-listed source. Farming ends for that item when the upgrade is obtained or the build goal changes.
Common mistakes
Running a popular route without confirming it can drop the item: use the exact Journal source first.
Filtering too tightly: keep usable replacements visible so the character can improve while waiting for the target.
Comparing one lucky run with a full session: use the same sample size and include recovery and town time.
When to stop or switch
Stop when the named item is obtained or several comparable runs no longer justify the time. Switch the Journal lookup to the next missing upgrade or another progression bottleneck.
