WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Crop plots near an animal trough and husbandry area.

If your prospect includes Animal Husbandry, plan a crop line around its feed needs instead of converting every harvest into meals. Crop seeds can support animal-feed recipes, while growing crops also gives you food options. Keep the planting reserve separate from feed stock so the animal supply does not consume the seeds needed to restart the farm. Confirm the active recipe and trough requirements in your current setup.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Crop seeds and a compatible growing space.
  • A trough or animal-feed setup appropriate to the prospect.
  • Storage for seed reserves, harvested crops, and feed.
  • Animal Husbandry access and the relevant feed recipe.
  1. Identify the animals and feed recipe available in your current husbandry setup.
  2. Choose a crop whose seeds or harvest support that feed plan.
  3. Plant the crop in a Dirt Mound or Crop Plot and supply its growing needs.
  4. Harvest the crop and separate seed stock from food and feed ingredients.
  5. Retain enough seeds to replant before allocating any seed to animal feed.
  6. Prepare the animal feed using the available recipe and place it in the appropriate trough.
  7. Check the feed supply and farm reserve before using the next harvest.

Farming tips

  • Keep a labeled or separate seed reserve so animal feeding cannot use the farm's last planting stock.
  • Grow for a defined animal-feed need and meal need instead of converting all crops into one use.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat the crop, harvest, and feed cycle while seeds and the required animal setup are available. Feed supply depends on harvests and the active recipe.

Common mistakes

  • Using all seeds for feed; preserve planting stock before preparing rations.
  • Assuming every crop supports every feed recipe; check the current recipe before planting for animals.
  • Planting without a trough or animal plan; establish the feed destination before converting the crop.

When to stop or switch

Stop allocating crops to feed when the trough has the needed supply or when seed reserves approach the amount required to replant.
