Turn red-lantern avenges into Umbral Scourings

Avenging a fallen Lampbearer yields Plucked Eyeballs that can be exchanged for Umbral Scourings at Skyrest’s Shrine of the Putrid Mother.

PC / Global, 2023 game
WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Red moth lanterns found during online-enabled exploration; redeem Plucked Eyeballs at the Shrine of the Putrid Mother in Umbral Skyrest Bridge, past Molhu.

This is an online-dependent currency conversion loop rather than another Vigor circuit. Red lanterns mark fallen Lampbearer revenge opportunities: Soulflay the lantern, follow the moth trail to the marked enemy, and defeat that target to earn Plucked Eyeballs. At Skyrest Bridge, enter Umbral and use the Shrine of the Putrid Mother beyond Molhu to exchange the eyes for Umbral Scourings. The currency can help fund boss-remembrance purchases, but revenge targets and connectivity are not guaranteed on demand. Treat each lantern as a bonus objective encountered along normal exploration, and only pursue it when the target is safe enough for your current build.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Online features must be available so fallen Lampbearer revenge events can appear.
  • Carry the Umbral Lamp and be ready to Soulflay a red lantern and follow the moth trail to its target.
  • Reach Skyrest Bridge and be able to shift into Umbral to access the Shrine of the Putrid Mother.
  • Have a planned purchase that benefits from Umbral Scourings, such as an item sold for a boss Remembrance.
  1. While exploring, look for a red lantern among red moths; do not confuse it with ordinary item drops or Stigma markers.
  2. Soulflay the lantern to reveal the revenge target’s trail.
  3. Follow the red moths to the marked enemy and defeat it, avoiding extra nearby fights where possible.
  4. Collect the Plucked Eyeballs reward and confirm the currency count before leaving.
  5. At Skyrest Bridge, shift into Umbral and go past Molhu to the Shrine of the Putrid Mother.
  6. Inspect the Shrine’s current offerings and exchange Plucked Eyeballs for Umbral Scourings when that is the intended use.
  7. Return to Molhu’s Offer Remembrance menu only if you have the matching Remembrance and the Scourings needed for a specific item.

Farming tips

  • The revenge event depends on online player activity and may not be available during every route.
  • Check the Shrine’s exchange and purchase display before spending; the Shrine also offers its own reward pool.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat whenever a red-lantern revenge target is available and safely reachable. Eyeballs come from completing those avenges; the Shrine exchange spends them and is separate from the limited ordinary Stigma pickups.

Common mistakes

  • Searching offline for a red-lantern target: this route depends on online revenge events.
  • Attacking unrelated enemies instead of following the moth trail: the marked target is the revenge objective.
  • Using the Shrine without checking its current offers: reserve currency for the item you actually want.

When to stop or switch

Stop when you have exchanged enough eyes for the Scourings needed by your planned purchase, or when revenge targets are unavailable or unsafe.
