Investigations and bonus rewards

Collect tracks to generate Investigations

Gathering tracks and engaging monsters can add randomized Investigations to your list, giving you more chances to target useful bonus rewards.

PC / Global, base game with Iceborne expansion systems
WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Monster tracks in expeditions and on hunts, followed by the Resource Center’s Manage Investigations menu.

Monster research actions can produce Investigation quests, but the result is random. Tracks are a practical activity during expeditions and hunts; part breaks and hunting can also contribute. Once back at the Resource Center, review what was generated and register only the quests that serve your next material goal.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Unlock Manage Investigations at the Resource Center.
  • Have access to expeditions or quests containing the monster whose Investigations you want.
  • Know which monster or reward you want to pursue.
  1. Start an expedition or quest where the desired monster appears.
  2. Use scoutflies to follow signs and collect tracks as you encounter them.
  3. During a hunt, break parts when practical and complete the hunt to contribute additional research activity.
  4. Return to Astera or Seliana and open Manage Investigations at the Resource Center.
  5. Review newly obtained quests, checking target, rank, rewards, conditions, and remaining attempts.
  6. Register suitable quests, then post them from the Handler or Quest Board when ready.

Farming tips

  • Collect tracks while already pursuing a hunt objective to make the research activity productive.
  • Keep useful quests and clear out ones that no longer match your equipment goal.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat freely on later hunts or expeditions; Investigation generation is random, so there is no guaranteed quest per track or hunt.

Common mistakes

  • Assuming a particular track guarantees a particular reward tier: inspect the generated Investigation instead.
  • Forgetting to register a quest: only registered Investigations can be posted.
  • Registering everything indiscriminately: retain quests with useful targets and manageable conditions.

When to stop or switch

Stop gathering when you have enough suitable registered Investigations for your target, then spend their limited attempts.
