Where to farm

Registered Tempered Investigations launched from the Handler or Quest Board; collect Tempered tracks during eligible quests or expeditions.

Tempered Investigations pit you against stronger monsters and offer purple reward slots, which can yield Feystones. In the base game, High Rank Tempered tracks become available at the appropriate Hunter Rank; Iceborne adds its own Master Rank progression. Check the quest rank and target before choosing a route, since reward pools and difficulty differ.

How to farm

Before you go

Unlock Tempered monsters in the rank you intend to farm.
Gather Tempered monster tracks to obtain Investigations.
Have access to Manage Investigations at the Resource Center.

Enter an eligible expedition or hunt where Tempered monsters are present.
Collect the blue Tempered tracks you encounter, using scoutflies to locate them.
After returning, check Manage Investigations for newly generated Tempered quests.
Register a quest whose rank, target, reward slots, and conditions suit your gear and goal.
Launch it from the Handler or Quest Board and complete its objective.
Collect the purple rewards, then appraise any Feystones at the end of the hunt.

Farming tips

Choose a threat level you can finish consistently; a difficult quest is only useful if you complete it.
Read the quest’s faint limits and other failure conditions before posting it.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat while registered Investigations have attempts remaining. Track gathering can produce more quests, but the result is random.

Common mistakes

Expecting every Tempered track to yield an Investigation: acquisition is random, so gather more tracks if needed.
Assuming a Feystone is guaranteed: purple slots offer a chance, and the item must still be appraised.
Mixing ranks when planning decoration rewards: check whether the quest is High Rank or Master Rank before farming.
