PC / Global, base game with Iceborne expansion systems
WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Registered Investigation quests for the monster whose parts you need; manage them at the Resource Center and launch them from the Handler or Quest Board.

Investigations combine a target hunt with extra reward slots. Their objectives, conditions, rewards, and number of attempts vary, so compare registered quests before spending an attempt. Gold boxes usually offer the best bonus materials, but they do not guarantee a particular item.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Obtain Investigations through monster tracks, part breaks, or hunts.
  • Have access to the Resource Center’s Manage Investigations menu.
  • Know the target and material you are farming.
  1. At the Resource Center, open Manage Investigations and review quests for your target monster.
  2. Compare reward boxes, objective, failure conditions, time limit, and remaining attempts.
  3. Register a promising quest; registration itself does not consume an attempt.
  4. Launch the registered Investigation from the Handler or Quest Board.
  5. Complete the stated objective, hunting or capturing as appropriate.
  6. Collect the normal quest rewards and the Investigation’s bonus boxes.

Farming tips

  • Favor gold boxes when the target and conditions are otherwise suitable; rewards remain randomized.
  • Check the monster’s material entry in Hunter’s Notes to see whether capture, a break, or a hunt best supports your goal.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat while the Investigation has attempts remaining. Investigations have limited attempts; obtain and register another when they run out.

Common mistakes

  • Choosing gold boxes without checking the target: verify it is the monster that drops your needed material.
  • Ignoring restrictive failure conditions: choose a safer quest if its faint limit or other conditions threaten completion.
  • Expecting a guaranteed rare part: boxes improve the bonus pool but do not promise a specific item.

When to stop or switch

Stop when you have enough of the target material for the equipment recipe, or switch to another suitable Investigation when attempts run out.
