Where to farm
Tempered targets in registered Investigations or the Iceborne Guiding Lands, depending on the required material.
First identify the exact material in the Smithy recipe. Some Tempered materials come from Investigation rewards; Iceborne Guiding Lands augments can require materials tied to a Tempered monster in a particular region and level. These routes are not interchangeable. Use the recipe and Hunter’s Notes to choose the correct hunt, then gather its rewards and drops.
Identify the exact recipe material and its source.
For Guiding Lands materials, own Iceborne, unlock the area, and level the required region.
At the Smithy, open the augment recipe and note the full material name.
Check whether it specifies a Tempered Investigation reward or a Guiding Lands monster material.
For an Investigation route, collect Tempered tracks and review generated quests at the Resource Center.
Register a suitable quest, checking target, reward boxes, rank, and failure conditions.
For a Guiding Lands route, raise the required region and lure or wait for the specified Tempered monster.
Hunt the target, break the relevant part if supported, and collect dropped materials and rewards.
Confirm the exact item count in inventory before returning to the Smithy.
Farming tips
Do not substitute a Tempered Investigation for a Guiding Lands material source; match the source name precisely.
Choose quests and targets you can complete reliably, particularly when attempts or faint conditions are limited.
Repeat, collect and use
Investigations repeat only for their remaining attempts; Guiding Lands hunts can be repeated when the target is available and you can lure or encounter it again.
