WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Later-access salvage piles and the Civil Recycler at your Workshop.
Build this supply after your progression opens access to iron scrap and you can run the Civil Recycler. Separate the work into finding the scrap, checking the available conversion, and reserving the result for a defined recipe or commission.
Progress far enough to access iron-bearing salvage piles.
A Pickhammer suited to breaking the available piles.
A Civil Recycler blueprint researched with Data Discs and the machine built.
Fuel accepted by the Recycler and storage space for outputs.
Visit the later salvage area available in your current story progression.
Target candidate piles and confirm they yield Iron Scrap before spending time breaking them.
Break the iron-bearing piles with the Pickhammer and collect the scrap.
At the Workshop, open the Civil Recycler and inspect the available Iron Scrap conversions.
Select the output that matches your planned metal or crafting requirement, then load scrap and accepted fuel.
Wait for the displayed process to complete and collect each output batch.
Store the metal separately and compare your quantity with the next recipe or commission before using it.
Farming tips
Research and build the Civil Recycler before collecting a large stockpile that you cannot process yet.
Keep a small reserve for active story construction or accepted commissions, since optional builds can consume the same metal.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat salvage collection and Civil Recycler processing as needed. This is a repeatable supply loop, but access to source piles and machine recipes depends on progression.
Common mistakes
Putting Iron Scrap into an unsuitable Recycler wastes a trip; confirm the Civil Recycler recipe is available first.
Assuming every late-game pile is iron-bearing can produce the wrong scrap; target and verify the item before gathering a batch.
Using processed metal before checking an accepted order can force you to rebuild the stock; reserve required quantities.
When to stop or switch
Stop once the current recipe and a practical reserve are covered; return when a new build or commission calls for more iron materials.
