A Formal Match is a practical early-game option when you have reached the Shadow region and want Amrita from a contained mission. The route is straightforward: defeat the mission opponent, collect the completion rewards, then decide whether another clear is still worthwhile. It is an early progression choice, not a fixed best route for every difficulty or build.
Before you go Progress far enough to unlock the Shadow region and A Formal Match. Equip gear and a weapon suited to the mission opponent. Carry healing items and prepare a reliable way to recover Ki between attacks. Open the Shadow region and select A Formal Match from the mission list. Check the mission reward panel and confirm the Amrita and other listed rewards suit your current goal. Start the mission and approach the opponent with Ki available for both defense and counterattacks. Study the opponent's attack recovery and punish short openings instead of trading blows. Use a Burst Counter against a recognized Burst Attack if your timing and stance allow it. Finish the encounter and collect the Amrita and mission completion rewards at the results screen. Return to the map and restart only if another clear is still useful compared with available missions. Farming tips This is an early first-playthrough option; review the map as new regions and difficulties open. If a clear is slow or costly, improve your equipment or choose a mission whose enemies better suit your build. Repeat, collect and use Repeatable: replay the sub-mission for further mission clears and Amrita. Its first-clear reward is limited to the first completion.
Common mistakes Expecting the same value late in the game: compare the mission level and results with newer content. Attacking through the opponent's full sequence: wait for recovery and retain Ki to evade. Ignoring the reward panel: use it to decide whether this mission actually fits the current farming goal. When to stop or switch Move to higher-level region missions or a stronger named Amrita route when A Formal Match no longer advances your character efficiently.
