WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
A planetary base Bio-Dome or Hydroponic Trays, including freighter hydroponics.
Set up a cultivation space, plant crops you have unlocked, and return to collect mature harvests. Climate-dependent plants can be grown outdoors in matching biomes or inside hydroponic structures. Use a Bio-Dome for a contained growing area and its harvest control for batch collection when available; trays provide another indoor planting option.
A base or freighter location for the planting structures.
Power where the chosen structure requires it.
Choose a base or freighter location where you can access the plants and their output.
Build a Bio-Dome or Hydroponic Trays using the available construction blueprints.
Select a crop whose blueprint you have unlocked and whose growing conditions fit the site.
Plant the seeds in the dome or tray and check the structure’s status.
Leave the plants to grow over time, then return when the harvest is ready.
Collect the crop through the plant interaction or Bio-Dome harvest control where available.
Keep the output for recipes and replant where the crop system permits.
Farming tips
Indoor hydroponics lets you cultivate biome-dependent crops without relying on an outdoor climate match.
A freighter farm keeps crop access available while traveling between systems.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat the planting and collection cycle as crops become ready. This is ongoing cultivation, but each harvest depends on plants reaching maturity and the capacity of your farm.
Common mistakes
Planting a crop you have not unlocked leaves the plan incomplete; obtain its seed blueprint first.
Ignoring a structure’s power requirement can prevent the setup from working as expected; check the base grid.
Selling every harvest can break a crafting chain; reserve ingredients before trading surplus.
When to stop or switch
Stop expanding when the available crop output covers your recipes and food needs; add more planting space only for a specific additional crop or larger batch.
