WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Native plants on matching planetary biomes, including desert, frozen, and other climate-specific worlds.
Identify the planet’s harvestable crop before collecting. Some plants grow in particular climates, while a protected indoor farm can help cultivate biome-dependent crops away from their native surface. Use the visor to confirm the item name, bring suitable protection, and keep the harvest for the recipe or crop chain that needs it.
Mining Beam or interaction ability for the target plant.
Hazard protection suitable for the planet.
Inventory space for the crop.
Check the planet environment and identify the crop you need, such as Cactus Flesh on a desert world or Frost Crystal on a frozen world.
Land in a safe area and scan nearby plants with the Analysis Visor.
Follow the marker to a plant whose displayed resource matches the target crop.
Harvest using the interaction prompt or Mining Beam as appropriate for that plant.
Keep the crop in your inventory and gather additional marked plants if the recipe requires more.
Use the output in the intended recipe or retain it as a sample and input for a farm.
Farming tips
Check environmental protection before exploring an exposed world; plant gathering can take you away from your ship.
The displayed resource name is the reliable check when several plants look similar.
Repeat, collect and use
Wild harvesting can be repeated wherever suitable plants appear, but it depends on finding the relevant biome and plants. For a steady crop supply, establish cultivation using the crop’s farming requirements.
Common mistakes
Assuming every cold or dry world has the same plant distribution can waste a landing; verify the target plant on arrival.
Harvesting without checking the name can leave you with the wrong crop; use the Visor label.
Leaving the crop in a remote inventory can interrupt crafting; transfer it to the inventory used for the recipe.
When to stop or switch
Stop when the recipe quantity is met or you have a sample and enough material to begin cultivation; switch to a farm if repeated wild gathering is becoming inconvenient.
