A Farm Tile is a basic farming building for domestic plants. It does not make every crop interchangeable: temperature, atmosphere, pressure, light, irrigation, and fertilizer needs vary by species. Set up the room around the crop you actually intend to grow, then monitor plant status instead of assuming the building alone guarantees growth. Domestic farming can provide faster harvests than wild growth, at the cost of inputs and maintenance.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Build Farm Tiles in a room with suitable access for duplicants and environmental conditions matched to the chosen plant. Use the plant’s requirements to plan room temperature, atmosphere, light, and input delivery.

Before you go

  • Agriculture research and construction materials for Farm Tiles.
  • Seeds for a crop compatible with Farm Tiles.
  • Any crop-specific irrigation or fertilizer supply.
  • A room that can maintain that crop’s environmental requirements.
  1. Choose the crop first and check its species requirements before planning the room.
  2. Research the needed farming technology and build Farm Tiles where duplicants can reach them.
  3. Select the crop at each tile and plant available seeds.
  4. Provide the crop’s required fertilizer or liquid irrigation; do not assume every species uses the same inputs.
  5. Set room temperature, atmosphere, pressure, and light to the chosen crop’s requirements.
  6. Open plant status after setup and resolve warnings before adding more tiles.
  7. Harvest mature output and route food or materials to appropriate storage or processing.

Farming tips

  • Keep the first farm small until you have confirmed that its inputs and room conditions work together.
  • Hydroponic Farms and Planter Boxes have their own compatibility rules; select a building appropriate to the species.

Repeat, collect and use

Farm Tiles can support repeated harvests when seeds and crop-specific inputs continue to arrive. Collect mature output, replenish inputs, and replant as needed; the crop determines whether the loop consumes Dirt, Slime, or a liquid.

Common mistakes

  • Building a farm before choosing a crop; select the target first so its environmental and input needs shape the room.
  • Assuming all plants accept the same building or irrigation; verify the species and building pairing.
  • Expanding before checking plant status; fix blocked growth on the initial tile before copying the setup.

When to stop or switch

Stop expanding when the crop’s input demand exceeds available supply or stored harvest covers current needs. Choose a different crop or farming building when the existing room cannot meet its requirements efficiently.
