WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Place domestic Thimble Reed plants in compatible Farm Tiles or Hydroponic Farms near a Polluted Water route, with suitable temperature and duplicant access.
A Thimble Reed farm can turn Polluted Water overflow into Reed Fiber. This makes it a useful companion to a bathroom or other polluted-water system when the colony needs fiber. It is not unlimited disposal: liquid delivery, plant conditions, and temperature still matter, and the crop only uses the water it can receive. Plan the farm around the available output rather than assuming it can absorb every overflow volume.

Polluted Water line from the overflow source.
Suitable room conditions and crop status without blocked growth.
Storage or use for the resulting Reed Fiber.
Inspect the Polluted Water source and determine when its overflow occurs before sizing the crop area.
Build compatible Farm Tiles or Hydroponic Farms with access for planting, fertilizer delivery, and harvest.
Plant Thimble Reed seeds and connect a Polluted Water route to the growing area.
Check plant status and local temperature; correct blocked conditions before routing additional liquid.
Direct overflow to the plants only when their input route and available capacity can accept it.
Harvest Reed Fiber and store it for construction or other material use.
Review the overflow route periodically and keep a backup destination if the crop cannot use all incoming liquid.
Farming tips
Treat the reed farm as one sink in a broader liquid plan, not as guaranteed disposal for all bathroom output.
If bathroom water supplies the farm, monitor germs and keep the liquid away from germ-sensitive clean-water uses.
Repeat, collect and use
The farm can repeatedly consume delivered Polluted Water and produce Reed Fiber while plants and suitable conditions remain available. Collect the fiber after harvest; overflow beyond crop demand needs a separate destination.
Common mistakes
Routing more liquid than the farm can use; preserve a backup overflow path and monitor storage.
Using clean water because the line is nearby; Thimble Reed domestic irrigation uses Polluted Water.
Assuming germy bathroom output is safe for other uses after passing the farm; maintain separate routing and sanitation checks.
When to stop or switch
Stop increasing plant count when Reed Fiber stock is sufficient or Polluted Water delivery becomes unreliable. Switch overflow to another planned sink if the farm backs up or cannot use the available volume.
