Hatch ranching turns critter care into a managed source of eggs and other species-dependent outputs.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Use a Stable containing Hatches, with a Grooming Station and the ranching building or equipment required for the specific jobs you want performed.
A Hatch ranch uses a Stable and ranching errands to manage critters. A duplicant with the Critter Ranching skill is needed for those tasks. Feed is central to the method: the diet and availability of suitable material determine whether the population can be sustained. Keep the Stable within the game’s capacity rules, then collect eggs and other outputs through the colony’s normal critter handling and storage systems.
Hatches and a suitable room configured as a Stable.
Duplicant with the Critter Ranching skill.
Grooming Station and appropriate ranching equipment.
A reliable supply of suitable Hatch feed.
Prepare a room that can be designated as a Stable and build the required grooming and ranching equipment.
Train or assign a duplicant with Critter Ranching so ranching errands can be completed.
Wrangle a wild Hatch and deliver it to the Stable using the colony’s critter handling tools.
Set a critter drop-off for the room and species so future deliveries go to the intended ranch.
Provide the Hatch’s suitable feed and watch available stock to confirm the diet can be maintained.
Allow the rancher to groom critters and collect eggs or other outputs through the room’s normal handling route.
Monitor critter count and room capacity; adjust population and feed supply as the ranch develops.
Farming tips
Plan the diet before increasing the population; the ranch is only sustainable if feed inputs can be maintained.
Keep egg collection and critter count under observation so crowding does not quietly reduce the ranch’s usefulness.
Repeat, collect and use
The ranch can produce recurring eggs and species-related outputs while Hatches, feed, rancher access, and Stable capacity are maintained. Collect eggs and manage hatches or population according to your desired ranch size.
Common mistakes
Using a duplicant without Critter Ranching; assign a skilled rancher so grooming and wrangling errands can run.
Overfilling the Stable; monitor room capacity and route excess critters or eggs elsewhere.
Choosing a feed plan without checking ongoing supply; reduce the population or secure an appropriate feed source.
When to stop or switch
Pause ranch expansion when feed supply or room capacity becomes constrained. Stop or redirect the ranch when its recurring outputs no longer justify its feed and duplicant labor.
