Fishing nets provide a separate progression path for collecting fish while your time is spent on other base work.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
A safe base near a pond, river, or lake with accessible water tiles and a repeatable checking route.
Build 42 fishing includes nets alongside active rod fishing. Treat nets as a later equipment goal: check current crafting search and skill information for the recipe and gate, gather only materials it lists, then place nets where the game permits and where you can revisit them. Their output is conditional, so keep active fishing and other food methods available. Fish caught still need collection and timely processing.
Fishing skill and any magazine knowledge required by the current net recipe.
Twine, wire, or other materials listed in the current crafting interface.
Access to water where net placement is permitted.
A marked route and capacity to collect and process fish.
Open the current crafting search or Fishing information and confirm the net recipe and skill requirements for your Build 42 version.
Gather only materials and recipe knowledge shown in-game; do not rely on a recipe remembered from another patch.
Choose accessible water near a safe route back to base and check that the game allows placement there.
Craft and deploy the net using the interaction available in your save.
Mark the location and include net checks in a regular water or farm supply trip.
Collect any catch shown by the net and inspect the gear for damage or need of replacement.
Process or preserve fish promptly, then replenish materials if you plan to maintain the net.
Farming tips
Net fishing is a distinct equipment goal from actively managing a rod and line; it still requires periodic checks.
Recipe gates and materials can vary across Build 42 updates, so verify them in-game before gathering supplies.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat checks while nets remain placed and serviceable; catches are conditional, and damaged or lost equipment may require replacement.
Common mistakes
Gathering materials from an outdated recipe; use the current crafting display before making a supply run.
Placing nets where you cannot safely revisit them; choose water along an existing route.
Treating nets as guaranteed food; maintain another source and process any catch promptly.
When to stop or switch
Stop adding nets when you cannot safely check or service them, or the current water site yields no useful catch; shift effort to rod fishing or another food loop.
