Project Zomboid FARMING GUIDES

Know what to farm.
And where to go.

Project Zomboid survival farming relies on scavenged tools, seed collection, growing crops, foraging, trapping, fishing and animal husbandry. Build 42 adds substantial wildlife systems and remains in active development. Each renewable food source has timing, skill and safety tradeoffs, so combine methods rather than depend on one.

✦

Check the sowing window first

Build 42 crops have month-specific planting schedules, so match the seed to the current window before preparing a bed.

✦

Keep seeds for the next cycle

Inspect seeds after harvest and store some for the next planting window; do not assume every crop or harvest state provides seed.

✦

Trap success depends on several conditions

Choose a suitable trap, fresh target-specific bait and a fitting zone, then check at an appropriate time; the recorded guide says square loading affects catch checks, so a fixed tile distance is not a guarantee.
