Prompt processing turns a harvest into usable meals or stored food before raw produce becomes waste.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
A safehouse kitchen or farm base with storage and preservation equipment available for the specific food.
A harvest creates a handling job: inspect crop output, decide what to eat soon, and move the rest into a preservation method supported by your save. Build 42 includes expanded food preservation, but methods and inputs vary by food. Use displayed interactions to turn surplus into usable stores, and keep a portion of fresh ingredients for meals that need them. Processing helps manage the harvest but does not guarantee indefinite storage.
A preservation method and supplies supported for that food.
Containers or separate storage for raw ingredients and ready food.
Bring the harvest to a safe processing area soon after collecting it and sort it by food type.
Inspect items and separate what you expect to eat soon from surplus you want to store.
Select an item and check its in-game food or crafting interactions for available preservation methods.
Set aside ingredients needed for planned meals; do not commit the entire harvest to one process.
Cook an immediate portion if you need ready food, using the recipe and equipment shown by the game.
Process the remaining surplus with an available preservation method, following displayed ingredient and equipment requirements.
Store finished food separately from raw ingredients, organize it by type, and use older stores before processing the next harvest.
Farming tips
Check each food’s own interactions; do not assume every crop can be dried, jarred, or stored in the same way.
Preserve perishable surplus promptly while keeping enough fresh produce for recipes you plan to cook.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat after each crop or animal-product collection. The routine is repeatable, but preservation depends on food, supplies, and equipment and does not guarantee indefinite storage.
Common mistakes
Leaving a large harvest raw while doing other work; sort and process the most perishable food first.
Applying a remembered preservation recipe to every crop; check current item interactions and requirements.
Preserving everything and then lacking fresh ingredients for a meal; reserve the needed portion before processing surplus.
When to stop or switch
Stop when surplus is stored or available containers are full; prioritize the most perishable items, then resume after making storage space.
