WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
A forest edge, hedgerow, or rural building margin that the Foraging panel identifies as vegetation or another suitable rural zone.
Search forest margins and rural grounds for herbs such as wild garlic or rosemary, which may appear in suitable areas and seasons. The goal is to inspect and collect specific finds, rather than repeat a general deep-forest sweep. Forage tables vary, so verify every item in-game and treat any particular herb as a possible result, not a promised reward. Bring useful finds home and confirm their intended use before eating or processing them.
Plant-identification knowledge for intended food use.
Inventory space for selected finds.
Choose a rural margin reachable by a cleared route and note a landmark for the return trip.
At the site, enable Search Mode and check the displayed zone before searching.
Walk a short pass along the edge where vegetation meets a field, hedgerow, or rural yard.
Inspect highlighted finds individually and use their in-game information to identify them before collection.
Collect identified herbs suited to your needs, keeping unknown plants separate from food.
If the search yields usable ingredients, return to base and store them by identity and intended use.
Before cooking, eating, or using a plant for another purpose, check its item information and any processing requirements.
Farming tips
Rural buildings and gardens may add different possibilities to an edge search; season and current build affect what appears.
Keep medicinal and edible uses distinct: a plant’s name alone does not confirm either effect.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat on later trips when season and route justify it; herb finds are variable and this is not a guaranteed supply source.
Common mistakes
Searching from a road or dense town zone while expecting rural vegetation; confirm the zone label first.
Picking every highlighted plant; inspect and prioritize identified, useful finds.
Eating a familiar-sounding herb without checking its item details; identify it and follow any processing requirement.
When to stop or switch
End the pass when useful finds thin out, the zone changes, or the return route becomes unsafe; carry selected finds back rather than extending into unfamiliar ground.
