Collecting and processing acorns makes a seasonal wild find usable as food instead of leaving it as an unprepared ingredient.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
An accessible forest or vegetation search zone where the Foraging panel confirms the intended area; process collected acorns at your safehouse.
In fall, acorns can be a useful foraging output, but they need processing to remove tannins before eating. Collect identified acorns and handle them at a safe base. Forage availability varies with season and location, so plan for a possible harvest and keep other food sources available if the search comes up empty. This activity ends with a prepared ingredient you can use in food, not a guaranteed supply of acorns.
Foraging Search Mode enabled and a safe route to vegetation.
Plant-identification knowledge to confirm the find is an acorn.
A container with room for gathered items.
A safe cooking setup and suitable cookware for the required boiling step.
Choose a reachable forest or vegetation area and make a return route you can recognize.
Enable Search Mode and confirm the zone in the Foraging panel before starting the pass.
Search in fall when acorns may be available; inspect each highlighted find rather than guessing its identity.
Collect identified acorns and keep them separate from unidentified plants and ready-to-eat food.
Return to base while the route remains clear, then inspect item information for the current processing requirement.
Boil the acorns to remove tannins before treating them as food; do not eat them raw.
Store the processed portion for meals and keep any unprocessed acorns labeled apart until prepared.
Farming tips
Fall is the relevant season for this target; if the search yields no acorns, use stored food or another source instead of extending an unsafe trip.
Process only the quantity you can handle safely and promptly, and keep raw acorns distinct from prepared food.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat during suitable fall searches when acorns appear. This is a seasonal, variable collection and processing activity, not a year-round guaranteed food supply.
Common mistakes
Eating raw acorns; boil them first to remove tannins.
Collecting a plant without identifying it; confirm the item before adding it to a food batch.
Relying on acorns outside their likely season; switch to another food source when the search does not produce them.
When to stop or switch
Stop collecting when carrying space or the safe return window is nearly used; stop processing when the gathered acorns are prepared and stored for planned meals.
