Before you go
- Foraging Search Mode enabled and a safe route to vegetation.
- Plant-identification knowledge to confirm the find is an acorn.
- A container with room for gathered items.
- A safe cooking setup and suitable cookware for the required boiling step.
Farming steps
- Choose a reachable forest or vegetation area and make a return route you can recognize.
- Enable Search Mode and confirm the zone in the Foraging panel before starting the pass.
- Search in fall when acorns may be available; inspect each highlighted find rather than guessing its identity.
- Collect identified acorns and keep them separate from unidentified plants and ready-to-eat food.
- Return to base while the route remains clear, then inspect item information for the current processing requirement.
- Boil the acorns to remove tannins before treating them as food; do not eat them raw.
- Store the processed portion for meals and keep any unprocessed acorns labeled apart until prepared.
- Fall is the relevant season for this target; if the search yields no acorns, use stored food or another source instead of extending an unsafe trip.
- Process only the quantity you can handle safely and promptly, and keep raw acorns distinct from prepared food.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat during suitable fall searches when acorns appear. This is a seasonal, variable collection and processing activity, not a year-round guaranteed food supply.
Common mistakes
- Eating raw acorns; boil them first to remove tannins.

When to stop or switch
