Reserve Seeds During Build 42 Harvests

Your own crop bed and a labeled seed container at a safehouse.

Before you go

Harvest one crop type at a time so produce and any returned seed are easy to identify.
Inspect the output before processing food; note whether the harvest provided seed and how much is available.
Move a portion of returned seed into a labeled container for that crop.
Keep seed separate from food ingredients and mark the next suitable planting window using current crop information.
Use surplus produce for meals or preservation after setting aside the seed you intend to keep.
When the window opens, prepare a bed you can protect and tend, then sow from the reserve.
After the next harvest, inspect output again and replenish the reserve if seed is returned.

Do not plan on every crop or harvest state returning seed; use the output you actually collect.
Label seed by crop and season so it does not get planted in an unsuitable bed.

Repeat for each harvest that returns seed. The cycle is renewable only when crop output includes seed; it is not guaranteed for every crop or state.

Cooking or preserving the entire harvest before checking for seed; inspect output first.
Combining different seed types in an unlabeled container; keep packets distinct and label them.
Sowing stored seed in the wrong month; verify the current window before preparing soil.

Stop reserving seed once you have enough for the bed you can safely maintain; use additional produce for food or preservation.
