WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Hunting Meat

Wild animals visible in the map’s Wildlife list, with a clear route to a butcher table and cold storage.

Before you go

Farming steps

  1. Open the Wildlife list and inspect candidate animals, including any displayed revenge risk and danger warning.
  2. Choose prey the colony can handle; avoid initiating a hunt if the animal can readily threaten the hunter or nearby colonists.
  3. Mark the animal for hunting and check that a capable hunter is assigned and equipped.
  4. After the kill, haul the carcass to the butcher table before it deteriorates.
  5. Have a colonist butcher the carcass, then haul meat to a freezer or cooking area.
  6. Use the meat in meals or another appropriate food plan; store leather and other usable outputs separately.

Repeat, collect and use

Hunting can be repeated while suitable wildlife remains on the map. The supply is limited by local animal availability and is not a guaranteed renewable crop.

Common mistakes

  • Hunting an animal without checking retaliation risk: inspect its warning and choose safer prey if the colony cannot contain an attack.
  • Killing more than the colony can butcher or store: match hunts to labor and freezer space.
  • Leaving carcasses outdoors: haul and butcher promptly, then refrigerate the meat.

When to stop or switch

Stop hunting when food stores, butcher workload, or freezer capacity are sufficient; resume when the colony needs meat and safer prey is available.
