Obsidian is a deep cave material for crafting and requires both access to the relevant chamber route and the right hammer.

Before you go
- Cave progression that opens the route beyond the Very Dark Room.
- Flint Hammer for obsidian deposits.
- Torch or other suitable light for the dark route.
- Inventory space for collected obsidian.
Farming steps
- Confirm that the route beyond the Very Dark Room is open or that you can meet its gate.
- Obtain the Flint Hammer before setting out; a basic tool does not replace it.
- Carry a torch and enter the Cave, moving through chambers toward the Very Dark Room.
- Meet the darkness gate requirement and continue to the deeper route.
- Inspect accessible chambers for obsidian deposits.
- Break deposits with the Flint Hammer and collect the material.
- Return to the village and reserve the obsidian for the craft or progression need that justified the trip.
- Bring the required hammer and light together; reaching the chamber without the tool wastes the trip.
- Keep track of which opened route led to the deposit so future collection runs are direct.
Repeat, collect and use
The cave trip can be repeated for additional obsidian from accessible deposits. Opening the route beyond the Very Dark Room is a progression step, not a repeatable farm.
Common mistakes
- Searching shallow chambers for obsidian: advance beyond the Very Dark Room first.
- Bringing only a basic tool: pack the Flint Hammer.
- Entering without light: prepare for the dark route before leaving.
When to stop or switch
Stop collecting when you have the amount needed for your current craft or request; return later if another specific use requires more.
