WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Alchemy Labs in inns, homes and alchemist shops throughout Skyrim.
Alchemy improves when you create potions and poisons, and more valuable products contribute more skill progress. Build a repeatable brew session around ingredients you can reliably gather, then reserve practical buffs for the activity they support. The goal is to use compatible ingredients efficiently, not to spend rare components on recipes you will never use.
Collect ingredients with at least one shared effect.
Reach an Alchemy Lab.
Have a clear use for the potion or access to vendors for selling surplus.
Gather common ingredients on your travels and buy only missing components needed for a specific recipe.
At the lab, inspect ingredient properties and identify two or three ingredients with a shared beneficial effect.
For Fortify Enchanting, pair Snowberries with Blue Butterfly Wing, Hagraven Claw, Spriggan Sap or another confirmed compatible ingredient.
Choose a recipe whose effects and ingredients fit your current objective, then brew it at the lab.
Keep useful buffs for the upcoming crafting activity and note which potions can be sold as surplus.
Sell extra valuable brews and use the proceeds to buy ingredients or supplies for another session.
Farming tips
Ingredient effects become easier to use as you learn them; experiment with common ingredients before spending scarce ones.
A multi-effect potion can be valuable, but only if its effects are compatible and useful to you.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat the gather, verify, brew and sell loop whenever you have ingredients. It is an ongoing skill activity, not a guaranteed fixed-rate leveling method.
Common mistakes
Do not assume that combining more ingredients always improves a potion; incompatible effects can waste a valuable component.
Do not drink a Fortify Enchanting potion long before enchanting; use it immediately before the Arcane Enchanter session.
Do not sell every useful buff if you have a near-term smithing or enchanting goal.
When to stop or switch
Stop brewing when ingredients run low, your planned potion stock is ready, or the next batch offers little value compared with saving materials for a specific recipe.
