WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Base production area: Outhouse or livestock pens → Fertilizer Bucket → nearby Farmland and Granary.
Use this route when a farm is running several crops and you want one compound batch to support them. First maintain a feces supply from domesticated animals or an Outhouse, then produce Compost, Ash Fertilizer, Bone Powder Fertilizer, and Stone Powder Fertilizer in the Fertilizer Bucket. Combining those four outputs makes Compound Fertilizer, which is more labor-intensive than matching a basic fertilizer to one crop but provides the recorded growth-speed boost across plants.
Unlock Crop Planting and place a Fertilizer Bucket.
A continuing feces source from domesticated livestock or an Outhouse.
Tree Bark, one of Fiber/Thatch/Vine, Fire Ash, Bone Powder or Phosphorous Powder, and Acidic Fluid or Niter Powder.
Assign a nearby tribesperson to livestock or Outhouse work so feces can accumulate while the base is active.
Collect Tree Bark plus Fiber, Thatch, or Vine and use the Fertilizer Bucket to make Compost.
Use feces with Fire Ash to prepare Ash Fertilizer.
Use feces with Bone Powder or Phosphorous Powder to make Bone Powder Fertilizer.
Use feces with Acidic Fluid or Niter Powder to make Stone Powder Fertilizer.
Feed one batch of each of the four fertilizer types into the Compound Fertilizer recipe at the bucket.
Move the Compound Fertilizer to the Granary or farm supply and use it on fields that need a universal growth boost; keep crop-specific fertilizer for crops where you want that matched input.
Farming tips
The four fertilizer recipes have distinct secondary ingredients, so prepare all four supply lines before queuing the compound recipe.
Livestock and the Outhouse are both documented feces sources; add animal capacity if fertilizer is the persistent bottleneck.
Repeat, collect and use
Keep the Fertilizer Bucket stocked with the four base fertilizers and replenish feces, ash, bark, and powders as the compound batches are consumed. The recipe is a production chain, so schedule it around the farm’s actual fertilizer use.
Common mistakes
Trying to craft Compound Fertilizer before producing all four component fertilizers leaves the recipe incomplete.
Using Bone Powder Fertilizer as a substitute for every crop ignores the separate recipes and crop needs.
Allowing feces to be collected in unrelated storage can starve the fertilizer bucket of its main shared input.
When to stop or switch
Stop batching when the farm’s current plots have enough Compound Fertilizer or when the required inputs are more useful for a crop-specific fertilizer.
