Where to farm
Void Fields with Engineer, on a map whose fixed material pool matches the needed weapon recipe.
A material-focused Engineer run uses a map with a useful fixed mineral pool and, when unlocked, the Material Harvest and Efficient Extraction runes. The aim is to gather deposits and Major Soulstone pickups while keeping the build reliable enough to complete the selected Void Fields difficulty. This setup does not guarantee particular materials or a fixed amount; the map supplies its assigned material set, while rune effects should be checked in game. Return to the fortress after each run to see whether the Blacksmith goal is funded.
Unlock Engineer and the relevant material runes, if available.
Unlock a Void Fields map that supplies the target material.
Know the recipe requirement and choose a manageable difficulty.
Check the Blacksmith recipe and write down the missing resources.
Select a Void Fields map whose fixed mineral pool matches those needs.
At rune selection, equip Material Harvest and Efficient Extraction if unlocked and currently suitable.
Choose Engineer and a setup you can control on the chosen difficulty.
Start the run and clear enemies while collecting Major Soulstones.
Break accessible mineral deposits between encounters and collect their output.
Complete the run, then inspect the inventory for direct and rune-related materials.
Spend the usable stock at the Blacksmith and update the next run’s target.
Farming tips
Prioritize a map with the correct material pool; Engineer and rune choices cannot make the wrong map supply a missing mineral.
Use a Curse level that lets you finish consistently, and rely on the current rune descriptions for effect details.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat the Engineer run while the next Blacksmith craft still needs resources available from that map. Materials are retained after completion and spent between runs.
Common mistakes
Treating the build as a guaranteed drop setup: both rune output and deposit results need to be checked after each run.
Taking high Curses before the build is ready: reduce difficulty if runs stop completing.
Mining every node regardless of route: skip unsafe detours that threaten the objective.
When to stop or switch
Stop when your recipe is funded or the map no longer supplies the main missing resource; change the map or farm type to address the next bottleneck.
