Where to farm
Survival mode from the Terminal, followed by a Dark Zone helicopter extraction point in Manhattan.
Survival starts a fresh run with minimal equipment. Scavenge to manage cold and infection, prepare for the Dark Zone, collect landmark rewards, then extract so the session’s rewards are secured.
Survival expansion access in the Definitive Edition.
Choose PvE or PvP matchmaking.
Be ready to manage cold, infection, and limited supplies throughout the session.
Launch Survival and select PvE or PvP according to your preferred risk.
Search buildings and containers for clothing, medicine, weapons, and crafting supplies.
Equip warmer clothing and use heat sources to manage exposure while improving your weapon and gear.
Make or obtain the supplies needed to enter the Dark Zone, following the objectives shown in the session.
Collect the virus sample and clear named landmarks for their session rewards.
Travel to an extraction point, call the helicopter, and defend the area while the extraction proceeds.
Board the helicopter successfully, then claim and process the Survival rewards after the session.
Farming tips
Treat warmth and infection as active limits; do not spend too long at a landmark without checking your condition.
Extract once you have the rewards you want rather than extending a run that risks losing the result.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeatable as a fresh Survival session. Landmark cache rewards are session-bound; successful extraction is required to convert the run into account rewards.
Common mistakes
Entering the Dark Zone without adequate preparation; gather equipment and supplies first.
Ignoring cold while fighting; use clothing and heat sources to keep exposure under control.
Assuming a cache is secured before extraction; complete the helicopter escape to bank the run.
When to stop or switch
Stop the session by extracting once you have enough rewards or your supplies and condition make further landmarks too risky.
