Crafting materials

Cloth and Rope

Cloth supports several crafted supplies, while Rope is a direct building and crafting material worth collecting without spending every cloth piece.

PC / Global, final release
WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Suitcases, beaches, cannibal villages, cave cloth crates including Cave 5, and cave ropes that respawn on re-entry.

Build a cloth reserve through suitcase, beach, camp, and cave searches, then craft rope only when your plans call for it. Opened suitcases do not refill, while some cave ropes can return after re-entry; that makes a mixed scavenging route more sustainable than repeatedly checking the same luggage.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Inventory space for cloth and other scavenged items.
  • A weapon and light for village or cave searches.
  • A specific rope or cloth use in mind before crafting.
  1. Search unopened suitcases at the plane crash and other surface loot areas for cloth and their other random item.
  2. Check beaches and cannibal villages for loose cloth and containers, taking care around patrols.
  3. On a cave expedition, collect cloth from supply crates, including those in Cave 5 when your route passes them.
  4. Pick up rope found directly in caves rather than converting cloth automatically.
  5. At the crafting mat, combine cloth into rope only when a recipe or building plan needs rope.
  6. Keep a separate cloth reserve for other crafting uses, then return to unsearched locations or eligible cave ropes for another collection pass.

Farming tips

  • A cloth-heavy route can also yield varied suitcase items, so leave inventory room for incidental loot.
  • Treat re-entered cave rope as a possible replenishment, not a guarantee for every rope location.

Repeat, collect and use

Surface suitcases and containers are limited once opened. Cloth can be gathered at other locations, and some cave ropes respawn on re-entry.

Common mistakes

  • Converting all cloth into rope: reserve cloth for other crafting needs first.
  • Expecting opened suitcases to restock: move on to beaches, villages, or cave supplies.
  • Entering a hostile village unprepared: approach with a weapon and a retreat route.

When to stop or switch

Stop when you have enough rope for the planned build or craft and a cloth reserve for your next intended use.
